If you’re one of the many people who completed binge watching stranger things and is left all alone and got nothing to do in the world(just like me) then I’ve got some TV shows that’ll consume your time as fast as you consume those vodka shots on a Saturday night.
1. Black Mirror
What was the word again? The one that is you usually associate black with. DARK! That’s right. That’s exactly what Black Mirror is. Watch this Sci-Fi thriller drama that will change the way you see technology. In a negative way, obviously. That is due to the fact that its creators wanted to show the world at just how bad it can get as humans excessively rely on technology more and more.
I dare you, I double dare you to binge-watch this show as each and every episode will mess up your mind so bad that you’ll have to take a break to let all of that sink in for a moment. It’s the kind of show that you might avoid after watching a few episodes because of how dark it is but curiosity will kick in and you’ll complete the entire thing in no time. On a side note, the new season is just around the corner so you are on time to complete the show.
2. BoJack Horseman
No amount of words can describe just how surreal the show is. It’s just that there hasn’t been a show that depicts modern-day human condition as accurately as BoJack Horseman does. BoJack Horseman (the central character) was the star of a hit 90’s TV show, but now he’s an alcoholic who always yells at how his life is a mess and that everything that he does is not his fault. When he does get everything that he asks for, he manages to ruin it every single time. He is as unlovable as a character can get. He is an anti-hero that is a perfect example of the kind of fake lives people live and that how everything in the show business is a lie.
Be patient enough through the first season and the show will reward you with philosophical thoughts that will hit you in the head. Strictly for adults, the show is a satire comedy that’ll actually make you laugh out loud in some scenes. Also, its got some of the best trippy scenes you can find on any show right now
3. The Grand Tour
Cars, exotic road trips and a group of idiot friends hanging out. What part of that did you not like? From the hosts of Top Gear-a show that was once the most watched reality show on television, the three middle-aged men are back with more idiotic ideas than ever before. While Top Gear was more car-oriented, The Grand Tour brings in the same amount of car enthusiasm along with everything that goes along with it.
When the hosts left Top Gear, Amazon made sure that these guys had enough money to blow just about everything up. And they literally blow a lot of stuff up. Even after one of the hosts faced a near-death accident and the other was plagued with diseases, the boys did what they always did best; which was to blow more stuff and get involved in faster car races. Season 1 came out last year and the trailer for season 2 is out already. The trailer for the second season looks mad enough already and it comes out on December 8 exclusively on Amazon Prime. It should give you enough time to watch the first season.
4. The Good Place
Heaven or hell don’t exist and are replaced by something known as The Good and The Bad Place. Both the places literally mean what you think they mean. The Good Place is a light-hearted comedy-drama about a girl who ends up going to The Good Place due to a clerical error. What follows is the process of her trying to fit in with all the “good” people around her. There are certain rules to be followed in The Good Place which, if broken, affects the entire place. Therein lies the comic part where the protagonist desperately tries to fit in with the help of someone who was supposed to be her soul mate. The soul mate gives her moral and ethical lessons on how to be a good person but she always messes up in the end. Give it a try if you want to watch something funny and light-hearted.
Another Netflix original in the list is a high school drama named Atypical. The protagonist of the show is a high school kid who is autistic. The show puts in a great perspective on the life of an autistic person and how all the people surrounding that person are affected by it. The central character is quirky and doesn’t have much experience in human interaction (much like Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory). Watch the show as he tries to figure his way out on social interaction in order to be in a relationship with a girl. Along with autism, you’ll learn a great deal about penguins (if that’s of any help) and how sometimes they can be better than humans on some things. Character performances are great and the soundtrack of the entire show will hook you up until the end of the season.
